Write for murmurART...
murmurART is a contemporary art company dedicated to supporting and promoting the most promising emerging artists through innovative projects and bespoke services. murmurART has recently been given access to a 2000 square foot area in 20 Hoxton Square Projects' upstairs gallery, London.
murmurART's gallery programme runs alongside its established, state-of-the-art website, off-site shows and consultancy services. In its online presence, murmurART hosts a 'Dialogue' section, promoting the critical contemporary discussion of London's exhibitions and artists through reviews, opinion-pieces and interviews.
'Dialogue'
As its name suggests the 'Dialogue' section fosters critical discussion by always including two (by no means opposing) points of view. Reviews are written exclusively of each other to form a blind debate.
Presented together the reviews form a 'dialogue', which aims to respond to the inescapable subjectivity involved in both viewing and reviewing art. The parts available for each dialogue are one title and subject, five images or a video and two 400 word blocks of text. Open expression and subjective opinion are integral to the section's success, which aims to promote creativity and innovation in text.
Contribute?
We publish 2 - 3 dialogues a week and are looking for writers to join our 'Dialogue' team. Although these positions are unpaid, writing for the section provides the opportunity to gain press presence, with press entry into events and a readership of over 11,000 visitors a month and just under 50,000 pageviews. All of our published material is in association with Catriona Warren, previously the editor of Art Review.
Levels of commitment are self-determined and writers must nominate themselves from a weekly send-out. Reviews are 400 words long. As a murmurART writer you become part of a research network, which creates opportunities for reviewing alternative shows and pursuing individual areas of interest within the company's remit of emerging and uncovered art.
