Had you witnessed the glamorous hoards in the Selfridges Wonder Room last night, you'd have been forgiven for thinking you were seeing another of their anniversary celebrations. No, all those people had actually turned out for the launch of murmurART's first pop-up exhibit.
Punctuated by some highly illustrious figures from the art world, this enormous crowd did little to calm the nerves of murmurART directors Will and Donald, but we were all excited by such a phenomenal turn out, if a little suprised! Fortunately, most of the work is either hung on the walls, or displayed in free standing vetrines, which means everyone was able to get a good look at the outstanding contributions of the 10 specially selected artists.
Delicious canapes, courtesy of the Natural Kitchen, and plenty of champagne helped sustain stimulating discussions on the current state of the art market and the new names to watch out for coming out of this year's degree shows.
Two of Bouke de Vries's capivating mis-alignments were snapped up by the renowned collectors Kay Saatchi and Anita Zabludowicz on the night and follow up sales have been lighting up the new website this morning. All the pieces will remain in situ until the end of the exhibition though, so if you didn't make it last night, you've got until the 15th to go have a look.
