Ian Giles at the Barbican Art Gallery Architectural Playgrounds opening tonight

Tonight Architectural Playgrounds is at the Barbican Art Gallery. For one night only, artists and performers will play with the architecture of the gallery, creating interactive and experiential structures through immersive installations and live performances.

murmurART's Ian Giles is involved and will create a virtual sound space with a forty-strong choir for his piece, All Together Now. Work 2: a,e,i,o,u. Dispersed throughout the gallery, each member of the choir will repeat a word when conducted. Every word, taking on its own form, will also combine with the others to create a sea of language within the newly formed, contained sound space.

Other artists involved include Valerian Gagnaire, who is creating Electric City an interactive installation of light structures controlled by viewers' choices of music, and Bee Emmott, whose sculptures in Blind : Fold, are created through projections onto the architectural spaces of the gallery, playing with the audience's perception of 2 and 3 dimensions, surface and depth. DJ Bob Stanley of Saint Etienne will also be playing a selection of 1970s tunes throughout the night, adding to the fun-filled atmosphere.

Architectural Playgrounds is at the Barbican Art Gallery tonight, Thursday 18th February, between 6:30 and 10pm. Click here for more information and ticket prices.
