Concrete and Glass call for submissions Want to get involved in this year's Concrete and Glass, 13th - 28th May? Read on...

Concrete and Glass returns to London between the 13th and the 28th May this year, and will be centered in Hoxton Square between 20 Hoxton Square Galleries and the 270 capacity Hoxton Bar & Kitchen. The inaugural Concrete and Glass took place in Shoreditch in October 2008, with more than 100 artists and a similar number of musicians exhibiting and performing in 22 locations across London.

A unique annual event, the festival showcases the most innovative new talent in music and contemporary art and provides a high profile platform for new artists. Curated by Flora Fairburn, Paul Hitchman and Tom Baker, Concrete and Glass seeks to explore the possibilities for collaboration between artists and musicians, inspiring a fertile mix of high impact installations and performances. Partners this year include the Arts Council, Contemporary Art Society, the Saatchi Gallery and murmurART.

This 2010 Concrete and Glass' central exhibition, Heart of Glass, is being held at 20 Hoxton Square Galleries, located right across the square from White Cube.

They are looking for submissions!

An eclectic group show of new, site-specific works of art, sonic art and collaborative art, Heart of Glass will be a show chosen from an open submission process by Flora and Paul, in conjunction with specialist art curators, murmurART, and in association with the Contemporary Art Society.

A panel of art experts including artists, critics, gallerists and collectors will provide their input in the selection process and the 'winner' will be a offered a solo show at the following year's festival. The 2008 panel included artists Marc Quinn and Gavin Turk, musician Alison Goldfrapp, Saatchi Gallery Director Philippa Adams, Director of The Contemporary Art Society Paul Hobson, art critic Rachel Campbell-Johnston, and Irene Bradbury, Associate Director of White Cube Gallery.
