The capital's public gallery programme has officially shed its lingering winter past and turned full steam ahead to their new year blockbuster exhibitions. Following on from the weekend's grand opening of 'The Real Van Gogh' at the Royal Academy, this week sees the opening of Chris Ofili's solo exhibition at Tate Modern and Saatchi's long-awaited new group show 'The Empire Strikes Back: Indian Art Today,' though a number of student inspired events in an effort to counteract the heavyweights have been lined up too.
TUESDAY
Artist under the grill - the internationally acclaimed Frenchman Christian Boltanski will discuss his work with Serpentine Co-Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, including his commission for Monumenta 2010 at the Grand Palais, Paris at the Serpentine Gallery tonight from 7.00 pm. WEDNESDAY
Pop along to the RCA tonight to hear the Salon discussion, organised by current student curators, on 'Where do we go from here?' Hear a panel of major contemporary art players including, 176's Elizabeth Neilson and Outset's Candida Gertier, give their opinion on the future of London's art scene and beyond. Or need to escape the London drizzle - head to the Rich Mix space and lose yourself in 'Cuban Stories' an exhibition of photographs celebrating the country's visual wonder and rich history in exceptional and unique approaches.
THURSDAY
Head to the Gooden Gallery, off Vyner Street, and check out their latest forward if lateral thinking artist, Simon Morse's new show ' I cannot see the trees but I can hear the mountain,' bound to be a brain teaser. Or catch the screening of rising video art star's first feature film - Laurel Nakadate's 'Stay the Same Never Change' at 176 from 7.00 pm - you saw it first. Josh Lilley is hosting the American artist, Michael Huey's first London show 'Story Problems,' featuring archived material - photos, paper, collages and re-presented with Huey's signatory twist in an effort to elevate their status.

From exhibitions and performances by established artists to installations and pop up shows by up-and-coming collaborative pairs, this weeks preview throws in a host of exhibition openings in Deptford for good measure along with several reminders to catch some must see shows before they close.
TUESDAY
You have to be quick to catch this one, but opening this evening for two days is Pause and Eject 2, the second and last interim show from the current 2nd year Art Practice students at Goldsmiths. Since the hugely successful first 'Pause and Eject' exhibition at The Rag Factory back in May 2009, the young artists have been advancing their individual practices and will be showing new works in this distinguished venue. The exhibition will be at Shoreditch Town Hall and feature thirty-six international students.
WEDNESDAY
Celebrating its first birthday in February Space in Between was established last year to support emerging artistic talent and to create a platform for artists at a crucial stage in the development of their careers. Their most recent exhibition Buckminsterfullerene Dream is a pop-up installation by Good Wives (artists Becky Bolton and Louise Chappell) and Warriors and a collaborative work by Ben Jeans Houghton and Matt Giraudeau.
THURSDAY
'Sometimes the old ones are the best' thats a saying proven right this evening in the case of John Stezaker's exhibition opening Tabula Rasa at The Approach. Stezaker has been highly influential in the key artistic developments of the last three decades, from Conceptual Art, New Image Art through to the re-emergence of collage.
FRIDAY
Following Michael Landy's installation 'Break Down' in 2001 in which the artist famously destroyed all his possessions, 'Art Bin' (opening this evening) at the South London Gallery sees the artist transform the SLG into a container for the disposal of works of art.
If you are already in the area the every last Friday of the month signals a chance to experience the increasing number of galleries, exhibitions and events that are becoming associated with Deptford Last Fridays. This evening you can see Nicholas Middleton's solo show 'Black & White Paintings' at Arch Gallery, 'Incidents' a group show including Kate Keara Pelen, Charlotte Warne Thomas, Luke McCreadie and Richard Rigg at Goth on Bus as well as Emma Hart and Melanie Stidolph at The Agency.
