Seiko Kato has now just recently graduated with a BA in illustration from Brighton University. I saw her work at the degree show last Friday and it stood out above almost every other piece I saw. This was surely due to the skill and effort with which her stuff was crafted combined with her wild imagination. It was not her drawing that caught my eye, rather her clear ability to manipulate a corner of a room into a coherent collection of collected objects, dome things, glass and wood.
A 'family' of decapitated glass eyed doll heads embellished with intricate jewelry, doodles that belong on a framed telephone directory and bric-a-brac reinvented. See more of this artist's stuff at her webpage.
