THURSDAY

Maddox Arts in Mayfair will be opening Terra Nihilus, a group show curated by emerging artists Hugo Wilson and Chris Roantree. All six artists share "an interest in a romantically dark vision of nomadism, where ideas and practice drift somewhere between the seen and the unseen worlds." Their works respond to concepts of virtual geography and magnetic forces, promising to "juxtapose poetics and politics towards levels that can be reached only through fabrication and imagination". So this show should provide a timely exploration of the connections between art and science, and the concept of romanticism as a longing for the eternal. Terra Nihilus promises new works by Daniel Gustav Cramer, Temsuyanger Longkumer, Chris Roantree & Emma Simpson and Hugo Wilson, and you can view the gallery's website {here}.

Also on Thursday evening, i-cabin will open Research Annex: Site Visit One, presenting research documentation and collaborative works in the window of their former gallery space in North London, now their 'research annex'. The influential artist-run space has taken the unprecedented step of relocating to an empty field in Worcestershire, and this exhibition is the first presentation of their recent activities in the countryside; including works by i-cabin, Richard Healy, James Hardy and Sebastian Craig. For more information please visit {i-cabin}.

SATURDAY

On Saturday night new publication The Book Of The Film will be launching at London's very best arts bookshop: Donlon Books/ X marks the Bökship, in Bethnal Green. A selection of brilliant artists/designers were asked to make new work specifically for the book, including Sofia Coppola, Julia Crabtree & William Evans, Babak Ghazi, Katie Guggenheim, Rachel Pimm and Patrick Shier. If you'd like to buy a copy, or enjoy some free drinks, more details are provided on {this facebook event}.

SUNDAY

And finally, on Sunday afternoon (from 12.30 onwards), fantastic young artist/vehicle designer Francis Thorburn invites everyone to take part in a performance/procession from South Kensington to Tate Modern, titled Vehicle No4 - Procession Through Central (Men In Pants). This sensual parade will be led by the most recent vehicle from Francis's Alternative Transport Network, a collection of experimental masochistic/fetishistic transportation machines powered by artists in pants! An earlier example can be watched on {youtube}, and if you'd like to join the performance, please join {this facebook event}.
