One young artist not starved of exposure this summer - and quite rightly so - is Edinburgh grad and public art sensation Kevin Harman. He first caught the eye of Scottish journalists for establishing public exhibition spaces in skips in Edinburgh and Berlin (he empties and re-installs the waste in a skip over the course of a weekend, then holds an opening for friends and passers-by)

For his degree show Harman stole 200 doormats from Edinburgh residents living in an affluent, supposedly community-starved area, leaving notes for them to ask their neighbours about the disappearance, and later to come and retrieve them from the sculpture court of the ECA degree show. This lead to a thick palymra fibre pathway of welcome mats streaking across the middle of the space, and hopefully from a little community action in Broughton.

You might have read about him in Dazed & Confused last month, but contrary to what they're saying he won't be doing skips in London this July. Keep your ears to the ground though, because he does intend to come in a couple of months' time, and look out for Erlend Clouston's piece on him in the Guardian next week. Visit his site here.
