There's lots and lots happening this sunny week, including exciting new shows at Hannah Barry Gallery, Coleman Road Gallery, the Bun House, and Josh Lilley. but really this week is really all about the many many degree shows.
TUESDAY
From Tuesday evening onwards the Royal College of Art painters will be showing new work in an off-site exhibition at the Rochelle School in Shoreditch. THROUGH THE WALL directly follows the graduates' official show, and will provide a platform for these emerging artists to show more of their work in a unique contemporary art space. "Born out of the necessity for independence in uncertain times, this exhibition is reflective of the diversity in current painting practice". For more information please visit {their website}.
WEDNESDAY
Also on Tuesday evening, rival art students of the Royal Academy Schools host the invite-only private view for their degree show, which opens to the public from Wednesday onwards. This exhibition "sees the transformation of the RA Schools studios into a stunning contemporary gallery space", and all details are available {online}.
THURSDAY
Then on Thursday the two trendiest art colleges in the world square up to each other, with simultaneous BA Fine Art openings for Goldsmiths (no invite) and Central Saint Martins (invite-only). Somewhere in these shows the superstar artists of the near future might possibly be hidden away, so see both websites following. {Goldsmiths here} and {Central Saint Martins here}.
FRIDAY
And then on Friday it's the private view for Chelsea College, showcasing BA Fine Art, Textile Design, Graphic Design Communication, and Interior & Spatial Design, details {here}.
And finally it's the second opening for PALIMPSEST, another off-site exhibition for Royal College of Art students in an empty shop in South Kensington. Everything unfolds in 3 stages that will be layered on top of each other to create an ever-changing space, and this 2nd layer adds fashion students straight after their shows last week.
