I trust that I was not alone in waking underneath a gloriously blue sky full of flaring sun and the promise of spring. It is indeed wonderful to think that we are now into March and showing February a clean set of scurrying heels. On to the art this week!

Wednesday the 4th sees an interesting exhibition take place at 'theprintspace' in Kingsland Road. The show is called Sample 09 and, as the title suggests, it is an exhibition where samples of work printed at 'theprintspace' are showcased. It will highlight the broad cross section of clients and what excites me most about the exhibition is the promised of seeing established artists exhibited next to up and coming ones. Toby Smith will be exhibiting there so watch out for his work. For further details about theprintspace then visit their site.

The following evening there will be a film night at the Hales Gallery running from 6pm to 9pm. Titled "2013: Drifting through the Ruins" the showing will consist of a selection of films addressing the rapidly changing landscapes within Hackney and the construction site that is Hackney Wick What will be the effects of the 'so sort after' 2012 Olympics? Pebble dashed ghost towns and cavernous high rises? Laura Oldfield Ford is contributing several films to this exhibition, which is a grand sign if ever there was one. Her art is consistently superb. Friday evening and there is going to be a very good private view at Madame Lillies. The artists Loiusa Chambers and Tamara Dubnyckyj will be having a joint exhibition titled 'Skyscrapers under the sea'. As is standard for private views itr will run from 6-9pm. I am sure that this exhibition will be plenty worth a visit since both of these artists are painters of high technical quality and engaging content. Click here for more information about the show.
