Michael Xuereb graduated last year from BA Photography at the London College of Communication. Having been selected by Professor Maurice Cockrill and artist Gavin Turk, Michael Xuereb was shortlisted for the National Open Art Exhibition, 2008. Michael Xuereb works across various mediums from collage and print to photography and text and has recently exhibited at ‘Art Salon’ hosted by Flora Fairbairn and ‘Frieze Art Fair’, 2009. This particular series of images, taken from his recent body of work entitled ‘When I Was Wrong’, demonstrates a strong photographic technical ability that draws into comparison other modes of artistic representation, namely abstract painting. The painterly quality of these images are accentuated by positions in the landscape moving in and out of focus and waves of color shifting across the surface.

Selected for murmurART from Michael Xuereb’s body of work entitled ‘When I Was Wrong’, this series of images were taken from the inside a moving vehicle on the M25. The artist overexposes each image to accentuate its formal qualities, emphasizing its colors and lines to the extent that movement spreads across the series of works and the view from the window acquires grander or more sublime characteristics.
