Sam Burford

Sam Burford left Chelsea College of Art & Design with an MA in Fine Art in 2007 and has had solo shows in both London and Paris. In addition to being selected for Bloomberg's New Contemporaries 2009, he is currently working on a large sculptural commission for Wimbledon Football Club. Burford’s practice spans a number of processes and formats including a form of photography he calls 'Simultaneous Cinema', enabling time-based material to be seen in its entirety. His recent series of lightboxes involve the simple, direct manipulation of found photographs with the artist folding pages of printed images until the ink falls off, allowing beams of light to appear through the image.
