Having graduated from BA Fine Art Sculpture at Wimbledon College in 2009, Dexter Dymoke is currently studying for his MA at The Royal College of Art. In 2008 he was nominated as the student prizewinner for the RA Summer Exhibition and was shortlisted the following year for the New Contemporaries. Dymoke’s practice pays special attention to that which is forgotten, overlooked or taken for granted. Embodying a close engagement with space and process, Dymoke's practice symbolizes an ongoing exploration of the tensions and resonances set up by their juxtaposition. Dymoke’s idiosyncratic use of materials offsets traditional roles as the processes he sets in motion trigger improvised narratives, the resolution of which remains bracingly elusive.

The series of works presented here for murmurART exemplify the fluidity and open-endedness of Dymoke's practice. Quoting Robert Gober’s observation ‘if an image is a conundrum to me, then the work is going well’, holds its own unexpected logic as the energy of Dymoke’s work resides in the materials being put to good use, even if as the artist says himself ‘it’s a use they’re not used to’.
