After BA study at Newcastle University, Susie Green completed a Fine Art Masters at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2008. Here, she developed her diverse practise, grounded in sculpture and spanning performance, painting, film, photography and wallpaper. Susie was selected for New Contemporaries 2009 and has been exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally at venues including the Ilmin Museum, Seoul, Decima Gallery, London, Antje Wachs, Berlin and Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh. Susie is interested in the fantasy, glamour, and otherworldliness that can be found in, and added to, everyday life. She is intrigued by momentary transcendence and how we can get out of ourselves, puzzled by media representations and depictions of what we desire and that which will make us desirable. And gets caught up in it.

Through her work Susie explores how people view and interact with art, examining how and what people look at and the seemingly universal desire for ornamentation. At present, the relationship between the spiritual and the decorative is an important factor. “Snippets of conversations and lyrics are an inspiration. Overhearing a woman walking past me saying ‘there’s a difference between wanting it and having it’ caught my attention. It sums up themes in both my work and my personal life”
